Ho was prepared to fixd substantial bail for his appearance.—Mr Male!; applied, on behalf of tho National Bank, to have bail refused, as there wsa another charge pending, but their Worships refused to doal with anything but tho case before them. —Accused was admitted to bail, himself in £IOO and two sureties in £SO each. Laeceny. - John Meddling was charged with stealing a purse containing two shillings, tho property of R. H. Lawery. Prisoner had been sleeping in a wharo at Lincoln, where (he prosecutor was. During tho night prisoner got up end took the purße from under prosecutor's pillow. This awakened prosecutor, who struck a light and saw prisoner going away from the bed. Prosecutor then roused his mateß, who fou .d the prisoner in another Troom, dressed.—Constable Wetherly stated that he arrested prisoner, and, taking ! him to tho whare, searched the bunks without finding anything. Prisoner then pretended to search prosecutor's bunk and produced the purse, which he said was in the corner of the bunk.—Prisoner wbb sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment with hard labour. Remand.—Moses Churchill, charged with stealing carpenters' tools to the value of 18s, was, on the application of the police, remanded till Monday next.
