Mails closo at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) ns nnder • THURSDAY, AUGUST 18. For Australian Colonies and United Kingdom via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only), Continent of Europe, Point de Galle, India, China, Japan, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Cape of Good Hope, Natal, Ac., per express train to connect with a.s. Te Anau, as follows Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m. ; books and newspapers, at 6 a.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17th; money orders, at 4 p.m. an Wednesday, August 17th ; late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Post Office van attached to the express train on Thursday, August 18th. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Albion, at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m. ; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train.
