Cuff and Graham, agents. The paddle steamtug Lyttelton, which left here on Saturday afternoon for Wellington, arrived on Sunday morning, and was slipped on Monday. Considering the foulness of the vessel’s bottom and the fact of having to steam against a head wind and sea, her run np of twenty hours was good work. The A.B.N. Company, of Sydney, sro having bnilt on the Clyde, under Captain Trenton’s directions, two steamers of 2000 tons each, one of 1400 tons, and another of 700 tons. They ■will all be fitted with double bottoms, or an inner and enter shell, the intervening space being utilised for water ballast, so that whan a river baa to be navigated the water may be pumped out, and the steamer, thus becoming of lighter draught, can continue her journey with less risk of taking the ground. The company are expending on the boats not less than -£200,000. It is anticipated that the first steamer will be ready in November, two in December, and the fourth early next year.
