ATHLETICS.
Rowell’s luck has (says the “ Turf, Field and Farm ”) not deserted him. He is again a winner, and his latest victory gives him permanent possession cf the Astley Belt. The recent contest at Olapham road, London, for the accepted emblem of the championship was expected to be a great one, but the collapse of Weston who, almost from the start, suffered violent internal disorders, left it a virtual walk over for Rowell. It is to bo regretted that the sturdy little Englishman has not been pushed to his best, and wo know him well enough to say that he regrets it as much as anyone. He had prepared himself for a hard week’s work, expecting to he forced close to 600 miles, but the unfortunate withdrawal of the American has left that feat for another triad.
