[IBB pbbbs association.! WELLINGTON, August 13. Smuggling Tobacco. William Duncan, cook and staraard on board the brig Neptune, was ohacged-to-day with concealing 331 b. of tobacco. The- Customs authorities elected to sue for treble the value, and duty on the goods, £29 lA', in which amount defendant was fined. In default, six months’ imprisonment. TIM ABU, August 13. Not Guilty. At the Magistrate’s Court, this morning, Thomas Ness, a young married man, was charged with race. The medical evidence failed to show that the alleged offence had been committed, and the Moused was discharged.
