Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as tinder : THURSDAY, AUGUST 11. For Akaroa and Otago, per Wanaka, at 9.40 a.m.; late fee letters, 9.50 a.m. ; gaard's van, 10.20 a.m. train. For Hokitika. Greymouth, and Australian colonies, via Sydney, per Hero, at 1 45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Penguin, at 3.20 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.30 p.m.; guard's Tan, 4 p.m. train. Notoe.—The next mail for the United Kingdom, &c , via Han Francisco, will close en Satnrday, August 13th. This mail will be cms in London on September 27th. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
