Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10. For Australian Colonies, Cape of Good Hope r United Kingdom and Continent of Europe, via Brindisi (specially addressed), per express train to connect with s.s. Rotomahana, as follows Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m. ; books and newspapers, at 6 a.m. ; registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9th; money orders, at 4 p.m. an Tuesday, August 9th ; late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Post Office van attached to the express train on Wednesday, August 10th. THURSDAY, AUGUST 11. For Akaroa and Otago, per Wanaka, at 9.40 a.m.; late fee letters, 9.50 am. ; guard’s van, 10.20 a.m. train. For Hokitika, Greymouth, and Australian colonies, via Sydney, per Hero, at 1 45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Penguin, at 3.20 p.m. ; late fee letters, 3.30 p.m.; guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. Notice. —The next mail for the United Kingdom, &o , via San Francisco, will close en Saturday, August 13th. This mail will be dne in London on September 27th. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
