[FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] HAWERA, August 9, Suicide. A surveyor, named Thomas Anderson, blew his brains out yesterday with a carbine. He was in charge of the survey party at the back of Mokaia, on the Native reserve. He started with tho party, and when they got out a short distance ho told the men to go on, and he would follow. He then went back to the tent and committed the act. The cook cooeyed to the men, who returned, but life was extinct. Deceased came to New Zealand seven years ago, and was one of the surveyors turned off the Waimate Plains by the Natives, For a few days deceased had been despondent, and hardly spoke a word. WELLINGTON, August 9. The Stormbird Robbery. The cook of the steamer Stormbird was again remanded owing to the absence of the warrant, which is delayed through the steamer being bar bound at Wanganui.
