Nothing has yet transpired regarding the future plans of the Opposition, but it is said that a cauous will be held on the quiet tomorrow to decide on a course of action. A caucus of the Ministerial sido is also to be held to-morrow, when Ministers will explain the course they proposed to take, and ask the co-operation of the supporters in carrying it out. On Tuesday it will bo proposed to take the debate on the flnanoial statement, that is to say, the general financial policy of the Government as distinct from that dealing with local finance. Great exertions will be used to bring down a Representation Bill next week. Maps and schedules are being rapidly pushed on. The Eailway Construction Bill is now all but ready for introduction. Mr Heid, Solicitor-General, Mr Trovers, for the Wellington and Manawatu Eailway ; Mr Weston, M.H.B , on behalf of thb Canterbury and West Coast line, are hi daily consultation over the draft of the BUL I hear that the last proof is now undergoing revision. The Premier will most likely deliver the Public Works Statement either on Friday next or on Tuesday week. Parliament will be asked to sit on Mondays after next week, in order to expedite the progresß of business, and it is expected that a morning sitting to clear oil the accumulated business and unopposed matters will be proposed shortly. The public petitions committee have reported on the petitions of the fire insurance oompsnies for an alteration in the Fire Brigades Bill, that as the subject will be dealt with by the House, the committee have no recommendation to make. The joint committee on the Standing Orders have reported on the Hororata Water Esoe Bill to the effect that the Standing Orders have not been oomplied with, but of opinion that the parties may be allowed to proceed with the Bill on oondition that the whole of the water race be within the county shown in the plan deposited in the Private Bill Office, and that the stipulations named by the Eakaia and Lake Coleridge Eoad Boaras be complied with.
