SYDNEY, July 29. The Squadron. Nothing- definite has transpired with regard to the movements of the squadron, but it is now said to bo uncertain whether it will, after all, visit Auckland. The Admiral is known to be awaiting further instructions from the Admiralty. MELBOURNE, July 29. Shipping. Arrived, last evening—Union Steamship Company's Hero from Now Zealand. Parliamentary.
Parliament resumed yesterday. It was announced that Mr David Gaunson had resigned the portfolio of Minister of Lands. It was further announced that the prorogation will take place on Wednesday, and the now session will commenco on Friday next. In the Legislative Assembly a discussion took place in regard to tho action of tho late Commissioner of Trade and Customs, Mr A. T. Clarke, in admitting barley free. Mr Clarke was charged with partiality, and with acting ultra riven, and it was stated by Mr Graves, tho now Minister of Customs, that the system would be discontinued. Mr Clarke defended his conduct, and then loft the Chamber.
