LEITHFIELD PUBLIC LIBRARY.

The annual me a tin); was held on Monday evening, Rev. H. G. Gould, president, in the chair. The report of the outgoing committee stated that the subscriptions received during the year have amounted to £2O. New books had been purchased at a cost of £l4 18a 31, and books rebound at a cost of £2 14a 2d, making a total spent in books of £l7 12s sd. The buildings were insured for £2OO and the books for £3OO, at an annual cost of £5 ss. The total number of subscribers was forty, showing a considerable increase since last year. The committee also think it advisable that, in view of the crowded state of the hall at entertainments, it should bo enlarged as far as is practicable. The balance-sheet as audited was then submitted to the meeting, and showed a credit balance of £26 12s 3d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. A hearty vote of thanks was given to the outgoing committee for their work during the past year, and especially for the number of new books that have been added to the library. Votes of thanks were also passed to the president, the secretary (Mr Bmellie), the auditors, and to Mr Franks as cuitodian of the hall. It was resolved “That is advisable to have the hall enlarged, and that it be left in the hands of the new committee.” The Rev. H. Q. Gould was re-elected president, Mr Bmellie secretary and treasurer; Messrs. Dron, F. Woodhouso, Franks, Ruraell, Birnio wore elected members of the committee. Messrs.
