The express train arrived at the Eakaia an hour behind time this morning. The line is flooded in a great many plaoee between here and Christchurch. The train is detained here waiting repairs to the line between here and Ohertsey. It is expected that temporary repairs will be effected in an hour, so as to allow the express train to gat on far enough to tranship passengers into the morning train from Timaru, which will return. ASHBURTON, July 20. Bain has fallen in this district almost without intermission since Monday evening. The express train from Christchurch is delayed at tho Eakaia owing to the washing away of the line between Eakaia and Ohertsey. Several houses in Ashburton, in the streets of low level, are surrounded with water. The Mount Somers coach just managed to come in to-day, but both tho Yalotta passage and the North Ashburton have now become impassable. The rain continues without abatement.
WINSLOW, July 20. A largo quantity of water is lodged on both sides of the line between Tinwald and Winelow. The etationmaster’s house at Tinwald is surrounded with water three feet deep. The main South road is covered, in some places two and a half feet.
