CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday, July 13. [Before J. Nugent Wood, Esq., EM,] Civil Oases. —Boyle v Corbett. In this a claim for £lO damages sustained by reason of the stoppage of certain road works, in which plaintiff was engaged, judgment was now given. His Worship said by the evidence ond arguments a question of title had been raised, with which Jthe Court was not empowered to deal. Plaintiff nonsuited with costs of Court, £3 Bs, expenses of witness £1 Is, and solicitor’s fee, £1 Is. Russel v Robinson, £l2 10s 6d for professional services. Mr Salter for plaintiff. Defendant did not appear; judgment for plaintiff with costs, and solicitor’s fee £1 Is, to be paid in monthly instalments of £3. Hood v Wilson, £2O, Mr Spackman for plaintiff. This was a claim for money said to be due on several contracts made by defendant with plaintiff for repairs to some tenements. Defendant pleaded that tho money owing had been paid to a partner of tho plaintiff, whoso name did not appear in the plaint. Judgment for defendant, with costs and solicitor’s fee £1 Is. Hyde v Atkinson, claim 14s 6d, for boots supplied to the wife of defendant; 2 s 6i was paid into court, and a set off was put in of 10s for poetry supplied to plaintiff’s order. The Magistrate allowed 7s 6i for the poetry, and gave judgment for plaintiff for 7s and costs. Pepperill v Salvigny, £B, damages by failure to supply goods as contracted for, Mr Stringer for plaintiff, Mr Thomas for defendant. The evidence showed that plaintiff had acted as agent for another person, and had no right to sue. Judgment for defendant with costs and solicitor’s fee. Judgments went by default for plaintiffs in MoNish v Allen, £5 3s; Alien v Parkes, £4; Rowe v James, £2 Is 6d ; Taylor’s trustees v Walters, £6 10s 4d; same v Essery, £34 12s 9d ; Manning and Co. v Barndon, £1313s ; same v Ingmire, 6s ; City Council v Towle, and White v Hack, £9 Is. Gould and Co. v Hopkins, Hoskins v McGruder, Wilkin and Co. v Hennon, Patterson v McLenahan, and Wright Wykos, were adjourned till July 20th,
