The printing committee reported to-day that the printing of the Maori translation of the West Coast Commission reports will cost a considerable sum of money. The committee are not aware if these reports are complete, and do not feel justified in ordering the reports to be printed without an order of the House.
Major Atkinson’s speech on local Government is generally approved, but a great difference of opinion exists regarding the details, Messrs Wood, Moss, Murray, Ormond, and others are understood to be preparing extensive amendments to the proposals, but the result will probably be nil. Sir G. Grey’s Local Government Bill did not reach the printers till last night, and was not commenced this morning. It contains about twenty-six clauses, embodying his views a» stated last night in the House,
