COURSING.
CANTERBURY CLUB
The running for the Canterbury Cup commenced on Wednesday about noon on Mr Minchen’a estate, at Sheffield. Haros wore scarce and the sport alow. The following courses were run off: — Canterbury Cur, for an unlimited number of all-aged dogs, at sga. each, 27 acceptors ; winner, .£6O; runner up, £2o ; two dogs £7 10s each. Messrs Smith and EavenhiU’s Lancashire Lass beat Mr H. Casddy’s Pluto Mr E. Cookson’s Seafield beat Mr C. Campbell’s Bessie Bell Mr H. B. Reid’s Banshee beat Mr A. Thomson’s Bonnie Scot'and Mr T, Hanson’s Shooting Star beat Mr H. Prince’s Legerdemain Mr B. P. Hill’s Champagne Charlie beat Mr W. Hole’s Spring Mr G. Bull’s Sir Roger beat Mr W. Beard’s Master Tom Mr H. McConnell’s Lo Lonp beat Mr W. H. Porter’s Balmoral Mr A.Thompson’s Hinemoa ran an accidental bye Mr C. Adkin’a Don Alphonse ran an accidental bye Mr P. Butler’s Scamp boat Mr B. B. Hill’s Heroine Don Carlos and Security ran an undecided Owing to the late railway accident Blush Bose and Bid were absent, consequently Hinemoa and Don Alphonse each ran an undecided. Sport will be resumed near the Racecourse Hill Station at nine o’clock this morning.
