NELSON, July G Fire Inquisition. At the inquest on the fire at Jago’t house, the jury returned a verdict that it was accidentally burned. It was sought to be shown that r, case of jewellery insured in the Liverpool and London office for £IOO had not been burnt, and Jago and his son both agreed that the heat was not sufficient to destroy jewellery, but both swore to not having been able to "find them or any trace [of them since the fire. DUNEDIN, July 6. Attempt to Interfere in a Criminal Case. The petitioners in Moritzon’a embezzlement case have been informed that tho Governor cannot consider the petition so long os the
case is before the Supremo Court, but whor tho charges are dealt with the petition will be considered. The Cape Diamond Fields. The good accounts from tho Cape diamond fields have induced six of the Dunedin police force to send in their resignations.
