Deep and nniversal anxiety is felt throughout the States at the state of the President's health. Telegrams have been received from all European Courts expressing sympathy with him. It now transpires that the would-be assassin Gintean was at one time a Consular officer, but was dismissed from his position. Evening. The latest bulletin regarding the President reports that his condition is unchanged. The bullet, it has been ascertained, has pierced the liver, and now lies embedded in the abdomen. From Gintean's conduct since his arrest it is believed that he is insane. Telegrams of condolence have been received by General Garfield from the Queen, Prince of Wales and Marquis of Lome.
