.IjW Acr fbom Daunt.—Henry F. AlleD, -who, since May 30th, has been in Ljttelton t gaol under modioal treatment, was brought up on thie charge. Tho Magistrate, in view I of over twenty previous convictions, said his ' ease seemed hopeless. He was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. BunaiiAßX. —Oharleß Henry Preston was : brought up charged with having, between May 2nd and 3rd, broken into a shop occupied by George Hooper in Oathel street, Christohurob, and having stolen therefrom jenellery, his property, vaulued at £522 43 6d. Mr lioughrey appoared for the prisoner. The police, stating that the evidence against him was not completed, applied for a remand for seven days. The application was granted. Bail was fixed, prisoner in £SOO and two sureties, to be approved by the police, in £250 each. Maintenance Obdkbb. —Neil MoPhee and Joseph Gumming, in arrears for the support of their wives, were ordored to pay up in a week, to be brought up if then in arrears. A distress warrant was ordered to bo issued against Mary Ann Hart, for failing to pay for her children in Burnham, in case of nulla bona, to be imprisoned fourteen days.
