[belter’s telegrams.] MELBOURNE, June 11 Ferreting his Way Out.
James Henderson, the reputed owner of the steamer Ferret, alias India, made an attempt last evening to escape from Pentridge gaol. He had filed away the bars of his cell window, and had succeeded in making his exit from the cell, when ho was discovered by the warders and again placed in custody. He now stands committed for trial on charges of conspiracy in connection with the Ferret.
