LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, [PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.] Thursday, June 9. After the Governor’s speech had oeen delivered, the Hon. F. Whitaker laid twentythree series of papers on the table. The Hon, O. M, WatebhOusk gave notice to bring in a Bill to amend the law relating to Married Women’s Property. GBbe Hon. F. Whitaker gave notice of the following committees Native Lands, Local Bills, Waste Lands, Private Bills, Petitions, House; and Library, the last three to be chosen by ballot. On the motion of the Hon. F. Whitaker, tho Hons. Captain Fraser, Captain Bailie, J. Johnston, N. Wilson, and F, Whitaker wore appointed a committee to prepare the Address in reply. The Council then adjourned till next day. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Thursday, Junk 9. On re-assembling, three petitions were presented by Sir George Grey. NOTICES OF MOTION. The Hon, J, Hall gave notice of the appointment of the Sessional Committees, Mr Bunny gave notice that he would move for a return of civil servants dismissed, the amounts of compensation paid them, and the number and names of those so dismissed who had been re-appointed, together with the amount of salary paid to them under such re-appointment. Mr Speight gave notice of the Exchange of Site of the Auckland Synagogue Bill. Sir G. Obey gave notice of motion, asking for the production of all correspondence, &0., re Fatetere lands; also of motion for a return showing the amounts paid to tho newspapers other than dailies for the publication of Government advertisements.

Mr Hutchison gave notice to ask the Gorermnent, if they intended introducing an amendment to the Marine Aot, regulating the number of passengers to be conveyed by steamers plying on the coast of New Zealand.

Mr on behalf of Mr Collins, gave notice that he would move on Tuesday the Address in Eeply to the Governor’s Speech. Mr Hutchison gave notice that he would ask whether the Government proposed to introduce a_ measure for the better regulation of Lunatic Asylums; also if the Governor had made any representation to the Imperial authorities relative to the imprisonment of the Maoris, and if the Government would lay copies of any such correspondence on the table; also if the Government would take steps to regulate prison labor so as to urevent it coming into undue competition with ordinary and skilled labor.

Mr Levin gave notice that he would ask if Government intended introducing an amended Bankruptcy Bill. At 3 p.m. the Home adjourned until tomorrow at 2 30.
