OAMAE.U STEEPLECHASES. [press association telegram.] OAMAEU, June 9. The steeplechases to-day were carried through under most unfavorable circumstances. There was a heavy drizzling mist during the day, and the attendance was limited to about 400. Maiden Steeplechase of 40 bovs ; two miles. Mr Foster's Sailor Boy, 12st 3lbs 1 Mr Waite's Twilight, 12st 31b " 2 Mr Andrew’s Novice, list 121 b ... 3 Sailor Boy won this race easily. Steeplechase Handicap of 100 sovs.; three miles. Mr Lunn’s Clarence, list 121 b 1 Mr Brodie's Chandler, XOat 121 b ... 2 Mr Ljford’s Winfield, lOst 91b 3 Sailor Boy and Agent also ran. Clarence had the best of the race from the start. At the back of the course Sailor Boy and Agent fell, and were out of the race. Near the finish Chandler joined issue with Clarence, but the attempt was futile, and Clarence won rather easily by three lengths. Selling Stakes of 40 sovs ; two miles. Mr Andrews’ Eobin Hood 1 Mr Thompson’s Kelpie 2 Mr Calling’s Nanmai ... 3 Kelpie came in first, but as ho omitted to go oyer the plough the stakes were awarded to Eobin after Kelpie had gone round twice. The Consolation was won by Agent, 12st 71b; Chandler, 10§t 81b, 2. Winfield also started. Agent won after a good race with Chandler by a length.
