CHAMPION PIGEON SHOOTING.
[Dunedin “ Evening Star.”] The contest for the “Sportsman’s” challenge cup, valued at 100 guineas, with a sweepstake of 50 sovs each added, took place at Hendon on March 14th, 15th, end 16th, There were thirteen competitors, and they were drawn against each other on the principle of a coursing match. In the first round at fifty birds each, Mr “ Graham" beat Mr Brighton, Mr “Radnor” beat Mr Holjedge, Mr Turner heat Mr Carrington, Dr Otvrver beat his fellow-countryman Mr Ira Pa.'ue, Mr Gordon beat Mr Hadlow, Mr Scott be at Mr “ Bcavor,” and Mr Cavendish had a bye. v In the second round at fifty birds each, Mr “Graham” beat Mr “Kadnor,” Dr Carver beat Mr Turner, Mr Gordon beat Mr Cavendish, Mr Scott had a bye. In the third round at fifty birds each, Dr Carver beat Mr " Graham,” Mr Scott beat Mr “ Gordon.” The final contest then lay between Dr Carver and Mr Scott, who had to fire at 100 birds each, and the former won by killing 79 birds against the latter’s 74.
