Chinese Immigration. At the largest meeting ever held at Riverton the question of cheeking Chinese immigratin was discussed, and a series of resolutions adopted to the effect that Government be petitioned to adopt remedial measures, and apply the same regulations to intercolonial steamers as apply to foreign vessel*. In regard to inspection by the health officer, any Chinese on board to bo fumigated* together with their effects, and that oarptains and owners of vessels be held responsible for the importation of diseased thinatSion ; that all Chinese in the colony, and to arrive, pay a yearly tax, and that co-operation with other districts interested he solicited.
