[betjtee’s telegrams.] MELBOURNE, May 28. The Reform Bill. No particulars have transpired as to the interview which took place yesterday between the Premier and tho Governor. It is generally believed, however, that Me Berry’s chief object was to ascertain hia Excellency’s views as to the dissolution of Parliament in tho event of the Reform Bill being rejected. SYDNEY, May 28. The Libel Cases ' In the action for libel brought by Mr . Gipps, hydraulic engineer, against Mr I Withers, M.L.A., the latter pleaded the 1 privilege of Parliament, the alleged libel ‘ having been written in the pocket book t of Mr Withers, M.L A,, within the pret cinots of the Assembly. Plantiff has i been non-suited.
An enthusiastic meeting was held at the Masonic Hall last evening, at which it was resolved to raise the whole of the amount of the *• Bulletin’s ” costs in the recent libel action. A large amount has already been subscribed by all classes of the community.
