Cunningham and Co. and Eoyso, tead and Co. yesterday cleared another of their it:tships for the United Kingdom, the vessel oeing the Himalaya, which arrived a day or two ago from Wellington. The Himalaya takes a full cargo, about 1200 tons of wheat, shipped by Messrs Boyse, Stead|and Co. The Union Steamship Company’s s.s. To Anau arrived from Port Chalmers at 11.30 a.m. yesterday, after a very tempestuous passage of nineteen hours and a half. From the time of leaving to her arrival yesterday one of the hardest of northerly gales Captain Carey recollects encountering prevailed. The sea blown np in squalls suddenly Ihroke over the steamer fore and aft during Wednesday night, and for several hours the vessel had to bo kept at half speed. No damage was, however, sustained, and the testimony of tho passengers, a groat many of whom wore on board going North, was to tho otfect that tho To Anaa behaved nobly throughout tho gale, and was handled by Captain Carey with remarkable skill.
