CORRESPONDENCE
THE TRAMWAY AND THE CITY COUNCIL. To the Editor of the Globe. Sib, —Will you grant mo space to correct a slight error which appeared in your issue of the 25th inst. In answer to a correspond dent re tramway matters, you give my name as one of the by-law committee of the City Council. Allow mo to state that I have not the honor of being a member of that committee, and have nothing whatever to do with the by-law, or tramway matters generally. At the same time, in my humble opinion, the committee deserve the thanks of the company and their customers, but more ] lartioularly the ratepayers of Christchurch, lor conserving their right of controlling the traffic of their thoroughfares (for which they are rated), and not giving that power into the hands of any private individual or company who may require the use of our streets as public carriers. Yours, &c., O. P. HULBERT.
[We gladly correct our mistake. The committee are Messrs Bishop. England, and Cherrill. A good deal of the annoyance which these gentlemen are subject to by some of the ratepayers would be obviated by the Council advertising the obnoxious bylaws in the Globe. —Ed. Globe ]
