CITY GUARDS.
The Cup presented by Mr J. Bowman was competed for at the Cashmere Kange yesterday, Captain Hawkcs in command. The day was pleasant and numerous visitors attended. The conditions wore 300, 400 and 500 yards ; 7 shots at each ; any position. The Cup was won by Private Perkins, with a total score of 64. Subjoined are the principal scores : Hdp. 300 400 500 Tl. The following also competed—Corporal Cahill, Lance-Corporals Aulsobrook and Wells. Privates Somorfleld, Gibson, Dowding, Hyde, and Brown, each having a handicap of 10 points. At the close of the competition for the cup, a friendly match was fired by the officers on the ground, Captains Hawkes and Warner v Sub-Lieutenants Francis and Pyemont. Some very good shooting was made, Captain Warner scoring the possible at 300 yards, but finally the match resulted in a victory for the sub-lieutenants by one point.
