Business in most branches has been quiet, and at present is hardly so good as it was at the beginning of the month. A fair demand has been manifested for galvanised iron amongst the trade, and £27 to .£2B has been obtained for spot lots. Fencing wire is without active inquiry, but a better business may shortly bo expected. Cement has been oahod for. Spot lots are quoted at 19a; and to arrive 15s 6d to 16s is demanded. Wire nails continue scarce, and prices for all sorts except liin have not been so high for years. White lead, genuine, in 281 b tins, is being offered at .£36. Oils are unaltered. Kerosene is not extensively held, and prices of both descriptions ore much firmer. Teas have not been dealt in io any great extent since the opening of the month. Fine salt continues scarce, and orders are executed with difficulty. Soda crystals £» 10s to jE9 15s. Holders of currants and Starnes remain firm at late rates _ Bluestoue 31s to 32s Nothing outside of trade inquiry has transpired in spirits.
