[BEUTEB’S TELEGEAM9.] MELBOURNE, May 12. Our Oats. There is a hotter demand for New Zealand oats, which are now quoted at 2s dd to 3s 4d. Postal. The Yiotorian Post Office is propounding a scheme for an Intercolonial Postal Union. SYDNEY, May 12. A Mere Trifle. ♦ A serious fire occurred here to-day on the premises occnpied by Mr J. J. Onnan, wholesale grocer, 600 George street, resulting in the partial destrnotion of the building. The stock was also much damaged fay fire and water. The insurances on the building and stock amount to £12,000, including £4OO in New Zealand insurance offices, and will fully cover the loss. Another large fire occurred to-day in the Haymarket, causing the total destruction of a store occnpied hy Messrs Harris and Co., general produce merchants. The stock and building were insured for £2OOO in the National Company of New Zealand. ALBANY, May 12. Inward Suez. The P. and O. Company’s steamship Kashgar, with the inward Suez mails, dated London, April Bth, arrived in King George’s Sound to-day.
