Intelligence has just reached town of an attempt made on Tuesday evening to throw a ballast-engine off the line between Eltbam and Ngaire. A largo stone was put upon the line, and, before tie engine could be stopped, it had run against the obstruction with such force as to cause the iron-girders to bend almost double. No one was hurt.
