PAPANUI COURSING CLUB.
A meeting of the members of the above was held last night, at the Sawyers’ Arms, Fapanni. Mr D. Thomas occupied the chair. Several new members were elected, making the number now belonging to the club up to about forty. It was resolved that tho secretary be requested to write to the secretary of tho Canterbury Coursing Club, asking if the latter intended to adhere to the rule re the recognising of clubs outside their on a, and if so to communicate with the Papsnui Club on the subject. Messrs Ferguson, McConnell, Burns, and Haskett, were appointed as a sub-committee to inspect the various running grounds offered for the first meeting of tho club. Mr W. Beard was elected as slipper of the club. The chairman was requested to interview a gentleman with reference to the judging for the club, and to report at next meeting. The opening meeting was fixed for May 17th, for the Puppy and All-Aged Stakes, the nominations for the latter to close on April 25th. Tho following entries wort- made for THE PUPPY STAKES.
