SPORTING.

TBAINING NOTES. Br Sinead. As the Autumn Meeting begins to draw near, I must occasionally give your readers a short account of the morning gallops. To commence with Monday. E. Outts was, of course, the early bird, and sent his lot a preliminary canter. T. Lyford then put in an appearance, and gave Winfield (late Tbilo) and Borneo slow work. Sir Modrod was then stripped and sent with Hilda at a pretty fast pace, the filly keeping with him. Somnus and Sir Garnet, with their quarter-pieces off, went once round, the last three-quarters of a mile at a good striding gallop. Fugitive went stripped once round, Harkaway accompanying her the'last half mile. Luna, with the rugs, did a good fast gallop of a mile and a half. She went very freely, and looks well. She has a good outside chance in the Handicap. Coldstream, the colt who won a race at Oamaru under the name of the Little Lady colt, did about three miles at about half speed. I think he will prove rather dangerous in moderate company. Clarence cantered twice round. The Oastanette followed suit at half pace. She is a nice mover, but wants time. Amulet, stripped, was sent once round at a moderate pace. He seems to have improved a lot recently. The Agent did a long slow gallop, the soft ground suiting the old fellow wonderfully. Fishhook, in clothing, went twice round slow. He was well bandaged, but seemed to go pretty sound. The Governor fell, throwing his rider, but no damage was done, and he subsequently did a good gallop of a mile and a half with The Joker. Mischief did slow work. Blue Jacket, Eugenie and Gold Dust were all stripped and sent once round at a nice pace, Blue Jacket going in the best form of the trio. Holdernees was limited to walking exercise, and Lady Emma did not put in an appearance. After breakfast, La Mode and Nonpareil wont once round, finishing lost three quarters of a mile fast. Both went well. Eversley also did work with Longlands, the pair going about two miles at half pace. Idalium and The Poet went once round at a fair pace, both going well. The following are present odds:
