Messrs Batkin and Seed formally presented to the Government this evening their report on the reorganisation, reform and retrenchment of the Civil Servioe in the North Island. Thoy indicate the practicability of extensive further reduction in the expenditure, while at the same time by a remodelling of the system the efficiency will be improved rather than diminished. Details of their recommendations are not yet made public Messrs Batkin and Seed start for the South Island investigation oa Monday.
