CRICKET.

M.C.0.0. v. ASHLEY COUNTY 0.0.

The return match between the above Clubs was played on the M.C.0.0. ground on Saturday, but owing to the absence and unpunotuality of several members of the teams, play did not commence till a few minutes to two o'olook. Fuller winning the toss sent in Watson and Fowke, the latter retired second ball for 0. McDonnell joined Watson, and with careful play brought the score to 33, when M'Donnell in attempting to hit to leg ■kied the ball to longstop. His score conlisted of one 6, two 4's, a 3, and three singles. Frith partnered Watson, and things went on merrily ; at 50 Watson was bowled by Leach for 22, which were not made in his usual style. Alpe joined Frith and played in good style, the latter getting mest of the bowling, lost no opportunity of scoring, and the runs mounted up very rapidly. Alpe, , after making 29 runs was bowled off his pad ; his innings was remurkable for good defence and oulting. The end soon came, Morice failed to stop one of Leach's slows. Easton was splendidly run out, and Fairhurst was stamped off Wright. Frith, who had now made 91 runs, had still a ohauoe of obtaining the century, but unfortunately he hit up a slow to the deep-on, and wus well caught by Fowke (who was acting as substitute). The retiring batsman was loudly applauded for his fine •core, whioh was obtained by good crickot; in fact, it was by far hiß best effort this season. His soore consisted of two s's, nine 4's, five 3's, six 2's and singles. The innings thus closed for 170 runs for eight wickets ; there being but nine men a-side. As the visitors had to catoh the train at five o'clock, there remained but twenty minutes to time, during whioh two wickets fell for 21 runs, of whioh Cumberworth made 15 by plucky play ; the match thus ending in a drow in favor of the local club. The weather during the day was bitterly oold, and a few light, showers of rain fell during the eorly part of the game. The following are the scores and bowling analysis : M.C.C.O. First innings. Geo.
