Libeller at once showing in front, and Opawa following in advance of the others. At the back of the coarse Han challenged Libeller, and the pace was brisk. Han led past the stand, well in front of Libeller, when King Quail mode a rush and took first place. Endymion made an effort at the mile, but could not reach the leaders. On rising the hill Libeller passed Han, and King Quail got in front of Opawa and soon left Han behind, Opawa also being close to King Quail. Entering the straight Libeller was leading by a length, but about fifty yards from homo King Quail got even with him, and speedily passed him, Opawa taking second place, as Libeller was completely broken down.
