On the application of the police he was remanded till Friday next. Bail was allowed, prisoner in £SO and two sureties in £35 each. [Before J. Elliot was charged with plying for hire as a carrier without a license. The case had been adjourned from a previous day. Defendant staled that ho worked under contract for several firms exclusively. He did not go on to a public stand or solicit work. His Worship thought that under the circumstances a license was not required. Case dismissed.
