Handicap Hurdle Rack of 40 sovs ; distance 21 miles, over 8 flights of hurdles. Agent 1 Will if-1-can 2 Parnell 3 Parnell made all the running for the first mile, followed by Will if I-can and the favorite in the order named. Coming to the stand in the fir t round, Connor took the Agent to the front, Parnell ifalling back to the rear, his bolt being evidently shot. The veteran then went on with the running, was never headed, and won easily by three lengths All three horses jumped well, and the district horses would have come in better had their owners not been guilty of the folly of allowing them to ran heavily overweighted. District Handicap of 50 sovs ; 1J miles. Tera 1 Sterling 2 Hornpipe ... ... ... ... 3 There were three others started. Tera won by a head in 2min 53sec. Southland J.C. Handicap of 100 sovs ; distance, 2 miles. Hilarious 1 Atlantia ... 2 Sir Mcdred, Lnna, Sylvanus were scratched. The pair got off together, but Hilarious soon assumed the lead, and Atlantic refusing to gallop a yard Mr Prince’s brown horse had no difficulty in winning by three lengths. Tradesmen's Handicap of 40 sovs ; distance li miles. Hilarious 1 Lana 2 Sylvanus 3 Nautilus, Wee Lad, and Sterling were scratched. Lana was first on her legs and jumped off with the lead. Passing the stand Hilarious was in front, but on the far off side of the course the mare closed with him and the pair raced locked together till reaching the distance post, when Hilarious drew ahead and won the best race of the day by a short length.
