Second order of merit—Colonial Museum of New Zealand, phorminm tenax. Third order of merit—Mr Henry Samson, Welling ton, gipsy tables; Thomas Palmer, jun., Poxton, fishing gear, Ac., from New Zealand flax. Fourth order of merit—W. G. Johnstone, Hokitika, designs in ferns, mosses, Ac.; James Seed, Northbrook, Canterbury, twine manufactured from phorminm tenax. The Rabbit Pest. It is announced that the Government intend to try Raymond’s phosphorised oats in their endeavors to exterminate the rabbit pest. A Sign of Progress. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have purchased a site in Collins street West for extensive warehouses at a cost of £27,000. MELBOURNE, March 2. Mr. Service Banqueted. A banquet was given to Mr James Service last night prior to his departure for Europe to-day. There were 500 persons present.
