CRICKET.
The annual match, Canterbury v. Otago, will take place on the Haglcy Park ground on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday next. It Is reported that the bakers of Ohristohuroh are by no means satisfied, notwithstanding the faot that they have been beaten by the butchers several years in succession, and, in consequence, we believe a match ia being arranged between the master butchers and master bakers to settle the knotty point. A match was played between the Akaroa> and Little Biver Olubs on Saturday last, at French Farm. Mr O. Barker for Akaroa, and Mr Buchanan for Little Biver, acting as captains. _ The match resulted in an easy victory for Little Biver, the total scores being 110, with seven wickets to fall for Little Biver, and 102 for Akaroa.
A match will be played at Ashburton tomorrow between a team selected from th» Ohristoliuroh Muff Cricket Olub and one of Ashburton Muffs. The Ohristcharoh men hava selected a very good" team, and should the weather prove favorable, no doubt a pleasant day will be spent.
