PIGEON MATCH.

A pigeon match, in which some excellent shooting was made, took place yesterday at Webb’s, Bush Inn, Riocarton. The competing sportsmen were members of the Christchurch Gun Club, and some really fine shooting was made. _ In the first sweep Messrs Oookson and Kirkwood were the only two members of the club present. A sweep was started of five birds each. Each man killed all his birds, and then the contest renewed, Kirkwood and Oookson each killing five birds on the second shooting. On tho final shoot-off Kirkwood missed, and Oookson scored with a fine shot, winning the sweep. In the second sweep Messrs Oookson, Kirkwood and J. H. Brown competed. Kirkwood scored on 4, Oookson similar, Brown killing tho 5, and winning the sweep. In the next sweep the same parlies .contested, Kirk wood killing 4; Oookson, 6; and Brown, 4 ; Oookson thus winning the sweep. In tho next, Messrs Oookson, Dundas, Brown, A. Saunders, and Kirkwood competed. The scores wero as follows :—Kirkwood, 2; .Saunders, 3; Oookson, /3; Dundas, 0 } Brown, 4. In iho next sweep the arrangement was that the first miss stood out, and Mr Oookson was the only man shooting hi* bird, thus winning the sweep. The next was -on similar conditions, and Mr Oookson won •this with four birds, fieing with three bird* with Mr Saunders, and winning on the shoot off. Mr Oookson won the next with two consecutive kills, and tho following one with throe. In tho final sweep Mr Oookson again won, killing his five birds consecutively. The total shows that out of forty-thrflk l bird# Mr Oookson killed forty-one.
