ELLESMERE ROAD BOARD.
The ÜBual monthly meeting of this Board was held in the Board office, Leeston, on Tuesday, IVbruary Ist. Present—Messrs J. Bennie (chairman), B. Lookhead, B. FranJiiah, and W. B. Maddison. A letter was read from the Selwjri County Council stating that, in compliance with the request of the Board, the Council had voted the sum of £SOO as (i grant towards the cost of drainage. A petition from Mr B. B. Willis and others was read, asking for a footpath from the Main road to the new post-office. A letter was received from Mr E. Cuthbert offering his services for any engineering work the Board may require. The valuation list, as prepared by Messrs Glasson and Oar■ton, waa handed in, examined and approved by the Board. The overseer was instructed to call upon Mr Woodman to replace the bridge over mill race with a structure suitable to the requirements of any heavy traffic, as per agreement with Mr Woodman and the Board. The question of forming footpath in Loeston was discussed, and deferred for another month. A letter was read from the County Council regarding pounds. The poundkeeper was instructed to prepare a statement of accounts by next meeting, and the overseer was instructed to call for tenders lor the office of poundkeeper. The overseer's report was read and considered, and the pay-sheet, amounting to £417 Is lOd, passed for payment.
