RIFLE MATCH.

The match between the E Battery and the City Guards took place yesterday. The conditions were—2oo, 300, 400, and 500 yards, five shots at each range; ten men aside; no trial shots ; any position. The team were driven by Mr Lewis to the Cashmere range. No time was lost in getting the men to work. The weather was everything that could be wished for. The Artillery fired well, beating their opponents by 121 points. Daring the whole match the utmost good feeling prevailed amongst the men. Three hearty cheers were given to the winners, the Guards expressing the pleasure they felt at meeting such a team in a friendly contest. Oaptain Craig, in a few well chosen words, thanked their opponents, and his men having given three cheers for the losing side, the whole returned to town much delighted with having had suoh a pleasant match. The scores were as follows :
