SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTIONS.

HEATHOOTE VALLEY. The annual meeting of householders was held on Monday last, when Mr Davidson occupied the chair. The Chairman read the statement of account* and report, which, after eosne discussion, were adopted. The meeting then proceeded to nominate persons to form tho new committee. Thirteen gentlemen went to the poll, and the following wore declared elected, viz.:—Messrs Dale, Curtis, Marsdcn, Perkins, Gilmore, Dixon, and Anstiss. At a meeting of tho committee held immediately after Mr W. H. R. Dale was elected chairman. KAIAPOI ISLAND SOUTH. At tbo annual meeting of householders there was only a small attendance. Mr D. O’Oallaghan occupied the chair. Tho report and statement (the latter showing a balance of £6 Oi in hand) was adopted. The former committee, with Mr Davis to fill one vacancy, was re-elected. LOBURN. The annual publio meeting was held on Monday evening last. A financial statement was read by the chairman, showing a balance in hand of £l4 19s 9d. The accounts being passed, the election of a new committee now took place, when Messrs Hodgson, Brody, Wells, Barker, Banks, Carr and Cunningham

were elected. At ft subsequent committee f meeting Mr 0. A. Cunningham wai re-elected chairman. BAXO AIRIS'. A meeting of householders wa« held in the Balcearn schoolroom on Monday. Mr W. C. Fendsll was Toted to tbo chair, and read the statement of accounts for the past year, showing receipte. £223 4s 43 ; and expend! turo, £213: 14) lid ; leaving a balance of £9 9i sd. A copy of the penay savings bank account wa* also read, showing-the number of depositors to be thirty-seven ; deposits, £ll 3s 2d. and withdrawals, lla lid. The meeting then proceeded to nominate members for the new committee, and a ballot having been taken, the following wore declared elected : Messrs J. Cameron, Jas. Little, J, Connor, W. V. Fendall, J. Johnston, O. Fitzpatrick, and G. Sutherland. At the meeting of tne committee held subsequently, W. O. Fendall was ro-eloctsd chairman for the year. WAIKUKU. The meeting of householders held-on Monday was not well attended. Mr W. O. Tinkler was- voted to the chair. The report and balance sheet was road and adopted. Messrs T. McDonald, O. Skevington, E. Ligget.W. Morrias, J. Pope, W. Orchard, and J. Griffiths, wore elected members of committee. At a meeting of the committee subsequently held, Mr McDonald wus elected chairman of committee. RANQIORA. The annual general meeting of householders for the election of a school committee was held in the schoolroom on Monday evening. The Mayor (Mr J. Johnston) occupied the choir. Mr A. BE. Cunningham, the retiring chairman of the committee, read a statement showing that the receipts for the year had been £936 16s lOd, and expenditure £9lO 8s 9d. The course pursued with regard to forcing the attendance under the Compulsory Act was referred to ; also the satisfactory result of the appeal to the public respecting secondary or higher education. The number on roll was reported to be 371, of which number 321 were present for examination, The inspector’s report was read, showing that this school was maintaining its usually high standard, and paying a high compliment to the teaching staff. This compliment was endorsed by the committee. A vote of thanks to and 'confidence in the retiring members of the committee for their past services was cordially passed, and all members were reelected. At a meeting of the committee after wards, Mr Cunningham was re-elected chairman and secretary.
