THE CITY COUNCIL.
To the Editor of the “ Globe." Sie, —I see by the report of the City Council's proceedings lost Monday, that a few shopkeepers, headed by Mr B. Cass, are urging the Council to remove the urinal by the old Post-office. I trust the Council will consider the matter well before they consent to such on absurd request. I have no hesitation in saying that the urinal in question is an immense convenience to a very largo number of people, especially as we have now a market established in the immediate vicinity, where large numbers of people congregate, especially on Saturday evenings; besides there is now a popular refreshment room in full swing, where very many people assemble. It is also a great convenience to penons coming into town by the coaches and omnibuses from the country, to say nothing of the cabmen and the general public. lam satisfied that if the Council should bo so ill-advised as to accede to the request of Mr Cass, and his friends, there will be such a howl heard as will astonish somebody's weak nerves, as well as the small heads under six seven-eighths. Yours, &c., ANTI-HUMBUG. p.B.—lt is currently reported that if this movement is successful, a petition is to bo gi t up with the object of clothing the nude figures in the Museum with crinoline petticoats. Some people are so very modest.
