MASONIC.
Tha annual meeting of the District Grand Lodge, E. 0., was held last night in the Canterbury Hall, the E.W. Dist. Q-.M. Bro. Donald presiding. There was a very large attendance of brethren, the hall being well filled. Prior to tho commencement of the business before the District Grand Lodge, the Y.W. Deputy Dist. G.M. Bro. H. Thomson, expressed, on behalf of the members of Diet. G.L. and tho craft generally, the gratification felt at tho return umongot them, with renewed health and the assumption of his high office, of the E.W. Dist. G.M. It was most gratifying to bo able to report that Freemasonry during the period of absence of the District G.M. had made rapid strides, having advanced from ten lodges to seventeen in two years. The E.W. District G.M. expressed the pleaonro he felt at receiving so hearty a welcome from tho craft. The main business transacted was the consideration of tho proposed scheme of a Board of Benevolence, which was negatived. It was ultimately resolved that the matter bo referred to a committee, to consist of V. W. District G. M. Bro. W. Deamer, Jubal Fieming, A. E. Kirk, and Joyce, to report at next communication of the CA L. W. Bro. Joyce gave notice of motion'that £3OO bo voted from tho funds of Grand Lodge to form a nucleus of a Fund of Benevolence. W. Bro. R. C. Bishop, P.D.G.S.W., was elected as Dist. G. Treasurer. Tho officers of D.O.L, were then appointed and inotullcd as follows V.W. Dap. Dist. G.M., Bro. H. Thomson; D.G.S.W., Bro. E. T. Webb; D.G.J.W.. Bro. A. R Kirk; D.G. Sec., Bro. W. E. Mitchell; D.G.S.D., Bro. C, Smith ; D.G J.D., Bro. F. Pavitt; D.G. Supt. of Works, Bro. Williams; D.G. Director of Ceremonies, Bro. O. A. O. Harvey ; D.G. Sword Bearer, Bro. W. B. Allwright; D.G. Stewards, Bros. Kayo, McClatchie, Messenger, and Edwards. The District Grand Lodge was then duly closed in ample form,
