CHRISTCHURCH. Friday, January 21, [Before B. Westenra and J. P. Jameson, Eaqs., J.P.’s,] Drunkenness. —Michael Byan for this offence was fined 10s. Cath. McDonald was charged with being drunk and smashing windows at the Queen’s Hotel. She said the barman “ tbrewn ” her out on her face with his two hands, and, on rising, she found a ■ stone “ oonvaniont,” which she flung at him, and it unfortunately broke a plate-glass window, valued at 255. She had been working for Mrs Harper at Papanui, Mrs Peroiral, Mrs Mulligan, and nil the first ladies in Christchurch, and if their Worships would let her off that once she would take an oath “fresh and fasting” that she would never appear in Court again. The Bench found, on reference, that she had been frequently let off before, and sent her this time to gaol for two months, to be kept at bard labour. Sarah Louisa Bowman was fined 20s. James Gilbert, for being drunk and disorderly and using obscene language, was fined 20s, or seven days’ imprisonment with hard labour, For a first offence a man was fined ss.

Obstruoting thu Pouch. —Geo. Herbert Barton, who had been fighting at the Theatre on the previous night, and on being removed resisted the constable, was fined 40s, cab-hire Is, or fourteen days’ imprisonment with hard labour.

Neolbct of an Obdbe of Court.— Joseph Cummings was brought up for not obeying on order of the Court, which enjoined him to pay 15a per week towards the maintenance of his family. He was remanded till the 26th instant.
