[uetjtee’s telegrams.] LONDON, January 19. The Weather. The severe weather which has prevailed throughout England during the past few days has abated, and it is now much finer and milder generally. England to QueenslandLuncheon was held on board the steamer Mebikara to-day to celebrate the opening of the new line of direct steamers between England and Queensland. There was a largo company present, including Mr A. Macalister, Agent-General for Queensland, Mr Stanton, and other leading colonists. Both gentlemen named made speeches, and expressed their full confidence that the line of steamers, in addition to other benefits, would materially assist the development of the trade in fresh moat between the Colonies and England. Further Leaguers’ Arrests. The measures taken by the Government to suppress the existing agitation in Ireland have led to a summons being issued for the arrest of sixty Land Leaguers, all of whom will be placed on their trial for sedition.
