At to-day's sittings of tho Supreme Court in Banco, Mr Browning, solicitor, appeared on behalf of W. H. Lingard for hie discharge from bankruptcy. Mr Hesketh, for provisional trustee, asked for a postponement of the matter, as, from information which had just come to hand, there was reason for believing that fraud, großs conspiracy, and perjury had been associated with the proceedings. A vast amount of information as to assets, fcc, had been kept back. The Judge decided that at any rate insufficient notice of application hod been given the creditors, and therefore he ordered fresh notice should be given, and Lingard, Searrell and Delias to be examined before trustee to-morrow.

A CentenarianJohn Cameron, sen., of Turakina, aged 100 years, died on Wednesday. NELSON, January 20. Fire. Afiro occurred at Dixon's Cordial Factory at eight o'clock this morning. The building was greatly damaged, but the machinery is not injured. The fire occurred in the ofllce, but the books were saved. The office and building were completely gutted, but the business can be carried on. The building is insured in the South British for £4OO, and the stock for £503 in an office not known. Death by Drowning. H. Duckeridge, J.P. (G. Buxton and Ca. s merchants), was drowned at Montere yesterday. He, together with his family, had beon staying out of town, and went boating. On their return all had been landed but the deceased's eldest son, when the dingy broke loose and a strong wind drove her to sea. Mr Buckeridge, seeing his son's danger, sprang in to swim to the di»gy, but was unable to overtake it, and, his stroegth failing, ho sank, the body being recovered two hours later. A message arrived ut Nelson and a steam launch went in search of tho dingy, which, along with young Buokeridge, was brought in safely thio morning. This melancholy circumstance took place in the sight of Mrs Buckeridge and the family.

At the Police Court this morning Adolpho Moritzon was oharged, on the information of the manager of tho Standard Insurance Company, with having embezzled sums of hi VJs, £ls and £2l, the properties of the Company. A remand was granted till Friday, and accused was admitted to bail, himself in a bond of £SOO and two sureties of £250 each.
