UNITED METHODIST FREE CHURCH

The seventh annual district meeting of this denomination commenced its sittings in the St. Asaph street Church yesterday. Twentytwo representatives, cleric and lay, and three ex officio members, took their seats, all the circuits in the district being represented. The election of officers resulted as follows :

Chairman, Rev. S. Macfarlane ; secretary, Ejv. J. White ; sub.-secretaries. Rev. E. O. Perry and Mr John A. Oaygill; reporter to the press, Mr J. A. Caygill. Standing orders having been adopted, and the hours of session fixed, it was decided that, except when the ministers' characters were under consideration, the [sittings should be held with open doors. The following were appointed the stationing committee :—Revs. R. Taylor, H. B. Redstone, E. O. Perry, and Messrs Brown and Flesher ; and the following the financial committee : Rev. M. Baxter, and Messrs Booth, Brown, Flesher and Caygill. On the recommendation of the committee, the Rev. T. Hodgson, having satisfactorily passed the usual probation and examination, was cordially received to full connexion. Two candidates offered for the ministry. Meters E. Barnett and J. Johns. It was decided to defer their consideration until the stationing committee had reported. After appointing Friday morning for the session with closed doors, the benediction was pronounced, and the meeting adjourned.
