GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

Tho past week has been one of much benefit to farmers, the weather having been all that could reasonably be wish’d. Yesterday was no doubt the beat of the seven, and two months of such line weather would enable a fine harvest to be garnered. In actual business comparatively little is doing, being yet rather early for operations in now grain. A few sales of new wheat are reported at 3s 9d, which must be considered a very fair price considering tho present state of the English market. Old wheat of good quality continues to find buyers at 4ato 4s 3d. Flour is quiet at JJll, but will no doubt liven up in a month or six weeks. Oats move off quietly at Is Gd and Is 7d for milling, and Is 3d to Is 4d for feed. Old barley continues to be pushed on the market, and country holders are evidently desirous to got their stores clear before new grain comes in. Soles are made at all sorts of irregular prices, from Is 6d to 2s 6d. Good new finds buyers at 3s 6d. Farmers would do well to be more careful in threshing this grain, and possibly tho following opinion of a leading London malt and barley factor will awaken them to study their own interests : —“ Canterbury barley, as a rale, is miserably dressed, being simply ruined in threshing. I have seen samples of really good grain threshed so close, that no maltster would look at them, and when they are sold for grinding and at grinding value, there is a difference of many shillings per quarter in price, at which tho shipper loudly complains.” Batter is in fair demand, and some large sales are reported at Gd f.o b. Cheene continues exceedingly difficult to sell. Hams and bacon are unaltered.
